Motor City Harley Owners Group Chapter 2368 |
|
What we are: The Motor City HOG Chapter is an extension of the National Harley Owners Group, originated by Harley-Davidson in 1986. Much more than just a motorcycle organization, the worldwide HOG mission is to share our passion for Harley-Davidson, as one big, happy family, as we Ride and Have Fun. Membership in the National program is required for local Chapter membership. Motor City Harley-Davidson is our sponsoring dealership since our inception with 29 members in April of 1986. We grew steadily as one of the nation’s leading Chapters to a peak of over 1,200 members until Michigan’s economic conditions brought us to our present membership of about 900. We are a non-profit group that supports a variety of local charities through our activities. What we do: What don’t we do is an easier question. The creative energy of our membership keeps the Motor City Chapter active year round, whether we’re riding or not. Riding events vary from escorted rides, observation rides, safety courses, dinner rides, competitions, rallies, National HOG rides, and weekend riding trips. While riding events are the main emphases of our schedule, our ‘family’ host’s additional activities that keep us together all twelve months. These may include First Aid/CPR classes, bowling nights, garage sales, chili cook-offs, winter dinner drives, movie/show nights, funeral support, birthday gatherings, and charity auctions. The limitations are endless as you may bring forward our next new activity idea. Who we are: The Motor City Chapter family is comprised of members from every cross section imaginable. We share a passion for the sport of Harley-Davidson motorcycling and the camaraderie of a family with similar interests. Although every religion, race, gender, and political affiliation are possibly represented within our membership, the focus is on our shared appreciation for the sport, safety, helping others, and to ride and have fun. Participation at all Motor City HOG activities is voluntary, and the volunteers are the backbone of our organization. We have a proud history of dedicated volunteers that contribute to the success of our numerous endeavors. Whether as an Officer, committee chairperson, Road Captain, event worker, or attendee, our volunteers have kept our Chapter as a model that others aspire to be like. What’s in it for you: Membership has its privileges, but participation helps reap the rewards. What you will gain from our HOG family depends on what you put in. If helping others, learning safer riding techniques, enjoying a family feeling, making new friends, sharing stories, traveling and/or learning the secret handshake are things that may interest you, the Motor City HOG Chapter may be what your life is missing. |
